Hand fasting Hand Binding.
HAND BINDING/ FASTING
The concept of a Handfasting is said to have originated with the ancient Celtic culture. With the peasant class, a Handfasting was often used because the
couple was not wealthy enough to require one nor did they need one as there usually was no dowry to arrange for. Conversely with the nobility class, a Handfasting was used almost like a modern day prenuptial agreement. The Handfasting was used to signify the betrothal of the couple before the business
of the dowry and entitlement was worked out.
Today a Handfasting can be used in many similar and dissimilar ways. It can be used to signify an engagement or betrothal. Laws being as they are today, a Handfasting is an excellent way for a gay or lesbian couple to make their commitment known. Additionally a Handfasting can be added to any wedding ceremony, regardless of religion, as "tying the knot" is a universal wedding theme.
Tying the Cord
Celtic Style
The cord is wrapped thrice around the couple's Clasped hands.
Infinity Style
The cord is wrapped across your hands, one side loops around one
partners hands and the other side loops around the other partners
hands and meets back on top to be knotted. So the cords are also
formed into an infinity symbol.
Clasping Hands
Option 1
Face each other and clasp both hands right to right and left to left so
your hands make an infinity symbol. Using this option, the cords
should be removed before the end of the ceremony.
Option 2
Face each other and clasp one hand, either right to right or left to left.
This option allows your other hand to be free for the loving cup or
lighting a candle.
Option 3
Standing next to each other, your hands are bound as you hold hands.
You can remain bound until you can run off to consummate the
handfasting. This makes the reception interesting.
We perform Handfasting Wedding Ceremonies.
Handfasting wedding ceremonies are Celtic wedding rituals. It involves the tying of hands together to symbolize the coming together and remaining tied together. One possible wedding vow during the handfasting is this sample:
"As this knot is tied, so are your lives now bound. Woven into this cord, into its very fibers, are all the hopes of your friends and family, and of yourselves, for your new life together. With the entwining of this knot do I tie all the desires, dreams, love, and happiness wished here in this place to your lives for as long as love shall last.
In the joining of hands and the fashion of a knot, so are your lives now bound, one to another. By this cord you are thus bound to your vow. May this knot remain tied for as long as love shall last.
May this cord draw your hands together in love, never to be used in anger. May the vows you have spoken never grow bitter in your mouths.
Two entwined in love, bound by commitment and fear, sadness and joy, by hardship and victory, anger and reconciliation, all of which brings strength to this union. Hold tight to one another through both good times and bad, and watch as your strength grows. Remember that it is not this physical cord, but what it represents, that keeps you together."

Wedding Vows
How to Write Your Wedding Vows
What's the big request people ask of us? "How to Write Wedding Vows". When you book a wedding ceremony with me, I will email you a free wedding vow kit with various sample wedding ceremonies wording that include sample wedding vows and free wedding poems that will allow you to write your own wedding vows quickly, give you some wedding vow ideas or simply pick a wedding vow that is right for you.
But there are a a few things that you should keep in mind when you write your own wedding vows:
1. Keep your wedding vows concise, yet meaningful. Too many people will overload a wedding ceremony. Don't torture your wedding guests with a long wedding ceremony! We find it very interesting that the shorter the ceremony, the more guests come up to us afterwards and say, "Oh that was the best ceremony I've ever been to."
2. If you can write your own wedding vows from scratch, make sure that you are edited by somebody you trust. If you pick from our wedding ceremony vow kit you can simply pick the marriage ceremony that fits you, or choose bits of ceremonies that fit how you feel and then add in the wedding poems or wedding songs that move you.
3. A sample wedding ceremony program often has these elements:
1. The wedding processional (walking down the aisle)
2. The opening of the wedding ceremony or call to the guests
3. Some words from me your celebrant on love or marriage or wedding poems readings
4. The wedding vow or wedding vow and poem
5. The ring exchange ( wedding ring exchange vows )
6. The pronouncement of marriage( husband and wife)
7. The introduction as husband and wife
9. The wedding recessional
If you decide that you do not want to do any of these steps listed above in the sample wedding program or put them out of order- - - -it's all your choice. You can say anything that you want to say that is fitting for your relationship and as long as you both agree to be married somewhere in the wedding program.
3. Often a passage that you like, a song, or a wedding love poem can be included in your marriage ceremony. A special guest, a member of the wedding party or the wedding minister can recite this wedding poem and reading, but it is not out of the ordinary for the bride or groom to recite or sing a wedding love poem to each other. When you book your wedding with us we will email you a list of appropriate or popular wedding day poems. We have over
50 wedding poems on my list.
4. Don't be afraid to express how you feel in the context of your wedding vow. This is the time to do it. Your wedding ceremony is your expression of love for your partner, it's your pronouncement to the world. Express yourself in your wedding vows how you would like to remember your wedding ceremony. And if you are not a poet, as most of us, pick a sample wedding vow that is a beautiful description of who you both are.
5. I also have a list of “Funky” trendy vows that I have in my kit.
Of late since I have written them several couples have taken up the “cheeky” vows, and their guests have had a chuckle also. It is your day bring out our own personality!
After booking your wedding with us as I will provide you with the password for this sample wedding vows kit.

Testomionals from couples via email
1.
"On the day of the ceremony Julzz was very patient, even though I was running very very late! She made us feel comfortable and conducted the ceremony perfectly. All our guests commented on what a lovely celebrant we had chosen. We highly recommend Ceremonies By Julzz to anyone looking for celebrant.
"Thank you Julianne for making our wedding a day we will never forget."

2. Julianne was pro-active from the day of contact through to the day of our wedding; providing us with the professionalism you would wish for from your celebrant.
"In the lead up to the wedding Julianne provided us with the direction and guidance from scheduling the ceremony, the writing of our own vows and in the selection of readings. At the rehearsal and on our wedding day Julianne made us feel very comfortable and provided us with a personal touch we desired for our very special day
Location: Kingscliff, NSW

"Dear Julianne, our sincerest thanks for making our wedding day so special.
"How fortunate we were that you were recommended to us. Our wedding was arranged at very short notice and so we had no time to meet with other celebrants. From the moment we met with you, we knew that there would have been no one more perfect than you to perform our ceremony.
"The information and suggestions that you provided for the ceremony made things very stress free and easy for us. Everything about the whole day was relaxed. Our simple yet touching ceremony was exactly what we had wished for. We could not have asked for a more perfect day. With you we felt that we had a friend there sharing in our excitement of the day.
"For anybody that was looking for a marriage celebrant, they should look no further. I doubt they could find anyone better for the job."

"We had the great pleasure of being officiated by Julianne at our wedding in February 2012. Julanne is a warm, professional and friendly celebrant whom we felt instantly comfortable with and who we felt truly cared about our day and our ceremony.
Julanne was always approachable and contactable and provided many wording and reading options for us to use as we wished. She skillfully incorporated our background information into the drafts of the ceremony, allowing versions to be flicked between ourselves and refined until we were entirely happy with it. On the day she looked wonderful; spoke with ease and grace, relaxed our guests (and us!) with reverence for the occasion without being officious or stuffy.
"A few weeks after our ceremony we attended a friend's wedding where it starkly highlighted the superior job Julianne did for our wedding which appeared so seamless and effortless. Whilst this other celebrant appeared to enjoy the limelight, it was clear how Julianne made the ceremony about us. Seemingly small details made such a difference – for example the other celebrant used a lapel microphone so when the vows were repeated, the celebrant was the only one that could be heard and not the bride and groom. For our vows, Julianne stepped elegantly aside, holding a microphone to each of us so guests could only hear us and did not hear her voice.
